MHANY Management Inc. POSITION: EAST NEW YORK MAINTENANCE SUPER/HANDYMAN

JOB CATEGORY: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Field Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Department is responsible for managing MHANY’s day-to-day maintenance and operations throughout its portfolio of over 200 buildings. The Maintenance Department seeks an experienced residential live-in Super/Handyman who will be responsible for providing day to day cleaning, general maintenance, as well as planned and emergency repair services for an upcoming 275 unit mixed use residential building in East New York planned for opening in the Spring of 2022.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance are required. Able to stand, walk, and move rapidly for an eight (8) hour work shift. Able to bend, stoop, twist and turn, climb stairs and onto trucks. Also, able to perform repetitious arm and wrist movements.
  • Able to reach and to lift materials weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Provide electrical repairs and maintenance of lightbulbs, wiring, circuit breakers, fuses.
  • Perform carpentry & general construction i.e. woodwork, sanding, painting, staining, polishing, etc.
  • Able to perform general plumbing repairs of toilets, sink faucets, and fix leaks, etc.
  • Able to perform facility repairs for doors, doorknobs, locks, broken tiles, etc.
  • Maintain outdoor building parameters at sidewalks and driveways, i.e. landscaping, snow removal, etc.
  • Clean, remove litter and debris and maintain outdoor building areas at sidewalks and alleyways and rear yard; including: garbage clean up, snow removal weed removal etc. etc.
  • Clean (sweep daily, pick up litter, debris and other items and mop at least public hallways, bathrooms, kitchens, stairwells, including doors, walls, cabinets, stoves, window sills and ceilings
  • Clean public hallway light fixtures from dirt, bugs, scuff marks, etc.
  • Remove garbage from all interior areas (beginning and end of day and otherwise as needed); remove and sort all recycling daily from interior areas and bring to exterior garbage area.
  • Sort, and bag building garbage and recycling appropriately in preparation for curbside placement
  • Uphold company standards of safety and efficiency.
  • Able to learn new tasks and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SKILL SET:

  • Knowledgeable in many aspects of repair & maintenance work, including related cleaning solutions and materials.
  • Detail oriented, systematic thinker with a proven ability of keeping track of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable of building maintenance and prior experience in a housing management are preferred but not required.
  • Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities
  • A team player that treats co-workers with respect.
  • Dependable; regular attendance is expected

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Certificates & training in maintenance programs and related skills preferred
